At the beginning of a new year, I usually ask God to give me a message for the year ahead. This year, the message was clear: My Shepherd is not a pushover. He is not intimidated by anything or anybody. Not caught off guard, and victorious in every battle.
This might sound a bit obvious. He is, after all, the Son of God.
I have realised, however, that I have never really allowed this truth to take proper root in my mind…

The One who is my Shepherd. The One who knows me by name. Who has redeemed me and made me His own. That Shepherd is the One to whom all authority has been given in heaven and on earth. He is the One who has the Name above all names. He is the One to whom every knee will bow.
Therefore, God elevated him to the place of highest honor and gave him the name above all other names
Phil 2:9 NLT
For the Scriptures say, “‘As surely as I live,’ says the LORD, ‘every knee will bend to me, and every tongue will confess and give praise to God.'”
Rom 14:11 NLT
Isaiah 40:5 promises us that the glory and majesty and splendour of the Lord will be revealed and that all of humanity will witness this.
So, this year, I will remember Who exactly it is that’s holding my life.
He’s got my back.
